Four Missouri State University physics, astronomy and materials science students attended the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from January 7-11, 2024. The students presented their research, trying to uncover more about the universe through their studies on planets.

MMTA auditions are yearly, state-level auditions held at different universities across Missouri every November. Nineteen MSU students competed in a field of over 500 students in this year's events.

Missouri State University's Hunter Murray not only graduated cum laude in December 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in English (creative writing and technical writing focus). He also achieved two certificates in editing and publishing and workplace writing.

Three Missouri State University chemistry and biochemistry students attended the 12th annual Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization (SNO) Conference in November. It took place in Los Angeles, California. Each student won an award for their research, and were the only student attendees from non-research universities to compete.

Missouri State University student Matthew Juhlin participated in the Vocal Immersion Program at the Castleton Festival in Castleton, Virginia, Dec. 4-16, 2023. Juhlin was among 16 singers and two pianists selected for the two-week program, which paid for all expenses except travel.

In only the fourth year of the program, the Missouri State University Mock Trial team clinched first and third place wins at the Derek Morehead and Irene Downs Tournament hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City from Nov. 18-19, 2023. Four team members also won individual awards.

This year, 30 Missouri State University biology students received scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements from the Missouri State Foundation.

The Missouri State University team turned in a successful performance at the recent U.S. Information Technology Collegiate Conference (USITCC) regional student competition 2023. Organized by the Association for Business Information Technology Students (A-BITS), in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology and Cybersecurity at MSU, the event took place from Oct. 26-28, 2023, in MSU's Glass Hall.

Missouri State University sophomore computer science student Bakhrom Norkulov attended the ConocoPhillips' IT (Information Technology) Innovation Challenge, where his team finished in first place. The competition took place Sept. 5-8, 2023, at the company's world headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Missouri State University graduate student James McDaniel received the Clayton H. Johnson Award from the Association of Missouri Geologists for his research of chemical variations in the local rock formation.
