Missouri State University's Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) team proved it was a force to be reckoned with at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) by securing four top 10 awards.

Eighteen team members received awards at the sixth annual U.S. Information Technology Collegiate Conference (USITCC), which took place in Shreveport, Louisiana, from April 4-6.

Missouri State University student Heather Vlietstra was recently inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, an academic honor society with chapters and members on more than 325 college campuses in the U.S. and throughout the world.

Missouri State University Master of Accountancy students Jamey Arter, Bailey Ewert and Lucy Petet placed first in the 2023 Government Finance Case Challenge. Organized by the Association of Government Accountants, the Government Finance Case Challenge is an annual competition that tests the financial aptitude and problem-solving skills of undergraduate and graduate students.

At the 2024 National Trumpet Competition (NTC), the Missouri State University Trumpet Quintet won third place in The Bill PFund Trumpets College Small Ensemble Division. The competition took place March 8-11 at Texas A&M University, Kingsville.

Missouri State University student Victoria Ogbeifun attended and presented her research at the 12th annual Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in STEM, which took place March 14-16, 2024, in Washington, D.C. She won first place in the chemical sciences oral presentation category.

Missouri State University student Rachel Lee attended the American Physical Society's (APS) Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP). There, she won best poster for her research. The conference took place in Rolla, Missouri, from Jan. 19-21, 2024.

Fifteen Missouri State University students were among 300 students from 30 colleges and universities to attend the Midwest Model United Nations (MMUN) conference in St. Louis, Missouri, from Feb. 21-24, 2024. Several of them won awards at the conference.

Missouri State University senior Austin Brown has begun the project of a lifetime - engaging in the Plant the Moon Challenge. With the help of his team members and MSU faculty, he is conducting an experiment that will help NASA scientists gain more knowledge about growing crops on the moon.

Four Missouri State University physics, astronomy and materials science students attended the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from January 7-11, 2024. The students presented their research, trying to uncover more about the universe through their studies on planets.

Missouri State University music students excelled at the Missouri Music Teachers Association (MMTA) and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) auditions, held Nov. 2-5, 2023, at University of Missouri-Kansas City. MMTA auditions are yearly, state-level auditions held at different universities across Missouri every November. Nineteen MSU students competed in a field of over 500 students in this year's events.
